The idea of the conference

The aim of the conference is to discuss the controversy associated with the discovery of the grave of Nicolaus Copernicus and the identification of his remains.

Both the scientists involved in the search and the critics of this project, representing the different research centres and scientific disciplines, have been invited to present papers.

It is necessary emphasizing that the central idea of the conference is a creative academic dialogue and a dauntless struggle with different interpretations of the same facts and issues. All of this is to serve, on the one hand, as a better understanding of the results obtained until now in the search for Copernicus’ grave and the identification of his remains. On the other hand, it serves to show new possibilities of deepening such research.

After the conference, we plan to publish the proceedings of the conference with the complete texts of papers presented (in Polish and English).
