Copernicus College – 2.0

Dear Copernicus College Students

We would like to inform you about upcoming changes to our platform. In pursuit of continuous improvement of the quality of our courses, Copernicus College is moving to new software – Open Edx. The new system is one of the most popular solutions among MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platforms and will bring a number of benefits to our community. Increasing the level of reliability, increased security, new functionalities that increase the pleasure of learning – these are just a few areas that will be improved.

What can you expect?

Improved navigation

To be able to offer more extensive courses, proper navigation through the content is needed. With the new system, we will switch to a different way of navigating the course, which will be more transparent and intuitive.

New functionalities

In the coming weeks, we will be looking to launch a number of features - for example, integrations with different login methods, a gamification system or new ways to manage your work.

Increased interactivity

During the courses, participants will have more opportunities to exchange opinions and discussions. The forum function will be improved, and mechanisms for so-called "peer review" will be introduced in the courses.

Improved mobility

Open EDX is adaptable to a variety of devices. The platform will work regardless of the screen size or browser used.

Availability

Open Edx meets WCAG 2.1 requirements than the existing platform. The change in content clarity and better navigation will positively affect the experience of all users.

New login

The platform will support login through social networks. This will improve user experience especially when using multiple devices.

Please take note of the following:

Date of transition to the new platform:

The biggest change will take place on January 12, 2024 in the evening, on this day Copernicus College will be shut down for up to 5 days. By January 17 we will restart on a new engine.
