Time in the Universe: physics, philosophy and … literary studies

18:00

De Revolutionibus, Bracka 14, Kraków

During the lecture we will discuss some of the most important properties of time, first of all:

★ the impossibility of its satisfactory definition;
★ its reversibility on a small scale and irreversibility on a large scale;
★ traces of its existence in the Universe.

In other words, we will try to answer the following questions:
★ Is one meter really different from one second?
★ Why half a second of the billiards tournament can be played backwards and no one will notice, but it is no longer the case with half a minute of the same recordings?
★ How do you know that for the Universe the time is more than just an ordering parameter, and the past is significantly different from the future?

The lecture will be delivered by Łukasz Lamża, PhD  http://facebook.com/co.robi.lukasz.lamza.

The project was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund.
